PINE BUSH — Pine Bush got back on track Friday night. The Bushmen beat Warwick 34-17 at Pine Bush High School for their first win of the season.

It was a clear, comfortable evening for football, with the late-day sun still lighting up the field at kickoff before the game finished under the lights.

The win was a needed response. Pine Bush opened the season with a 41-34 loss to John Jay in a high-scoring home opener, then fell 53-12 at Our Lady of Lourdes eight days ago. After managing just 12 points in that game, the Bushmen put up 34 against the Wildcats.

Warwick is still searching for its first win. The Wildcats fell to 0-3, and the loss stretches a losing streak that dates back to last season to four games.

Both teams have a quick turnaround. Pine Bush (1-2) visits Washingtonville on Friday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. Warwick (0-3) meets Goshen on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 1:30 p.m.
