GOSHEN — Burke Catholic opened its 2026 football season in style Saturday, rolling past Monticello 55-0 at home on a hot, sun-splashed afternoon that felt made for football.

Quarterback Lucas Rodriguez set the tone early, doing damage both on the ground and through the air as the Eagles took control from the opening whistle and never let up.

Jayce Lee gave Rodriguez a reliable target downfield, connecting for touchdowns as Burke Catholic’s offense moved the ball at will throughout the afternoon.

The rout sends a message as Burke Catholic opens the season 1-0, while Monticello starts 0-1.
